New White Paper<\/a> | Beyond a \u201cPost Office\u201d: Seven Proposals for Strengthening State Engagement with the Inter-American Court of Human Rights from San Jos\u00e9<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can diplomacy play a more active role in strengthening the Inter-American Human Rights System?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professors Lucas Lixinski (University of New South Wales, Australia) and Lucas Carlos Lima (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil) present a new White Paper<\/a> examining relations between States and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The paper draws on field research conducted in San Jos\u00e9, Costa Rica, including interviews with diplomatic representatives and other actors within the Inter-American System.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building on the experiences and good practices identified, the authors put forward seven concrete proposals to strengthen cooperation between States and the Court: from developing specialised expertise within embassies and improving coordination among domestic institutions to exploring new forms of diplomatic cooperation, professional exchange and cultural dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The paper seeks to contribute to the debate on the role of legal diplomacy within the Inter-American System, particularly at a time when institutional cooperation is increasingly necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
